How we research and present wisdom
21 EFFECTS is not a new religion and does not claim that all religions are identical. When we draw on a tradition, we try to understand it before we reflect on it.
What every source shows
Each entry in Paths of Wisdom keeps five things apart, and labels them:
- Original source: the text, its exact location (chapter, verse, page, or catalogue record), the translation used, and a link to the passage itself.
- Historical context: when and where the text arose, with uncertainty stated plainly.
- Interpretations differ: how the tradition itself reads the passage, recognizing that communities and schools differ and no community is monolithic.
- 21 EFFECTS reflection: a contemporary practice inspired by the text, clearly marked as ours, not the tradition’s teaching or its only meaning.
- Respect and care: cultural protocol, translation notes, and anything we must not claim.
What we will not do
- Sell or present sacred items, rituals, or celestial events as guaranteed means of prosperity, protection, or healing.
- Make medical claims about ingesting, burning, or applying any substance.
- Reconstruct initiatory, closed, or community-restricted practices, or imitate the work of priests and practitioners. Such traditions are presented as knowledge to understand, not rituals to reproduce.
- Require anyone to adhere to a tradition, or claim that all traditions describe the same deity.
- Ask you to publish confessions, share private prayers, or upload proof of what you have done.
- Reproduce long copyrighted translations. We quote briefly, credit the translator, and link to the full source.
Review
Before publication, we check that every link reaches the exact passage and that each quotation matches its source word for word. Entries are then reviewed with readers from the tradition concerned, and pages marked pilot are still awaiting that review.
Corrections
